Great night last night. I got to go to the "One Man Star Wars Show" at UVic. This is, as you might guess from the name, the entire 'Star Wars' show done by one guy. It was really amazing. This guy came out and did all three movies (the classic ones, not the new ones) all by himself, with no props, just lighting. Every now and then he would bust out these hilarious little asides. Like when Luke figures out that Leia is his sister "Leia! It must be Leia! She's the only girl in the movie!" He did all the music himself, in the buh buh buh ba ba style, which was pretty funny.
It was really fast paced, and he got through the whole show in about an hour. It was definitely the kind of thing that you needed to know the entire trilogy inside and out to appreciate, but thanks to my nerdy teenage years, that was no problem. This guy has been all over the world, including a stint on Broadway doing this show, but he is from UVic, and studied at the Theater program there, so this was like a homecoming for him. All that, and since I saw it on the preview night, it was only five bucks.
The other cool thing is that my roommate James' car is in the shop. Normally this isn't that good a thing, but since he was carless, his dad let him borrow the Porche that he's fixing up. So, I got to ride in a Porche last night. It was pretty much everything that a ten year old dreams of and more. In slightly rough condition, since it is still in the 'pre fix up' mode, but man does that thing have power! It was awesome.
