2007-02-19 - 10:32 p.m. ARRGH! I keep meaning and meaning to update, and then things keeping happening, and it keeps getting pushed back to tommorow.... you know the drill. Your life is like that too. Anyway, things have been busy. Highlights of the last week include Valentine's day, on which I baked a carrot cake. On a related note, happy birthday Dad. See, Dad's birthday is on Valentine's day, and when I was a kid he always had carrot cake for his birthday. Never had it any other time of the year, just Valentines. Now that I'm not living anywhere near the old man, I try to have at least a piece each year. This year, since we were having Bible Study at my place, I went all out and made one. On my way home from the store I suddenly realized that we do not possess a grater in any form at all. This was a problem till my natural ingenuity came to the surface, and I shredded the carrots with a carrot peeler, and then diced the peelings. Then I realized that we had only half the amount of sugar neccessary for the recipe. In desperation, I filled out the measurement with natural sugar and icing sugar. Worked pretty well too. Yesterday I had the day off, and so I invited Jeff and Kirsten for supper. I had made, on Saturday, vegatable stock, so I made that into soup. Then (on Mom's recommendation) I made biscuits and eclairs for desert. Man, I'm a good cook. It's Shrove Tuesday tommorow, and true to form, the church is having a pancake supper. Jeff and I are organizing the food, so that should be interesting. Work is nuts this week, with at least three major servics going on- and leaflets having to be made for all them, as well as Sunday. Janet is taking care of most of the extra ones, which is nice, but I'm really not looking forward to Holy Week!
