2007-03-20 - 8:17 p.m. Well, the weekend was awesome! I think this is the first St. Paddys that I've really done anything for. Sad, I guess, but I always figured that I'm not Irish, so why should I get excited? St. George's day, perhaps, patron saint of Slovakia, sure, but for Ireland? I can take it or leave it. Since it's James' thirtieth birthday this week, he was celebrating on the weekend. His parents own a timeshare up island, in Parksville, so he had that for the weekend. His family was there for the first couple days, and we all went up Saturday. At first I wasn't sure how much fun it would be. It sounded like only a few of us could make it, and I thought I was in for anther low key March 18th. Then it turned out that Shantel was coming, and Jeff decided to abandon the recently wisdom toothless wife and come along. So we had a full car load, and things were starting to look up. I've never been to a timeshare before, and I didn't know what to expect. The place turned out to be really awesome though. James had a little suite with a master bedroom, another bedroom, a kitchen and living room. There were two balconies (third floor) and three TVs. The view over looked a little bay, and you could borrow kayaks to go out on the ocean. We got there too late to partake of that though. There's two outdoor hot tubs, and an indoor pool. The place is pretty sweet. Everything is new, and very nice. Patrick and his wife and two kids came up for a few hours in the afternoon, and they had a lot of fun. The rest of the evening was a blur of going back and forth from hot tub to hot tub. Not to get into to many details, but it was a lot of fun. We had to be out by ten the next day, so we even managed to get back to Victoria by early afternoon. To top off the awesomeness of the weekend, Jeff decided to cook up some salmon that night for supper, and invited me over. I think the best part about the weekend was that getting away (even just a couple hours up island) made the whole weekend seem longer.
