I'm always a little suprised at the things that end up offending me. I can take just about anything, just let it roll off my back, but every now and then something comes up that really gets to me. This happend at work the other day. I was working on the leaflet for Canada Day, and was just putting some liturgical artwork on the front cover. It was nothing great, just a picture of the reading for the day (the Son of Man has no where to lay his head) and I decided, since it's Canada Day and all, that I'd throw a couple maple leafs on the cover as well. Well, this old lady who was there to fold the leaflet comes past and I show her the cover. "eh- should be the Union Jack" she grunts. She was serious! I'm not a crazy no-holds-barred patriot by any means, but that comment really got to me. I mean, to say that this whole country is still just a part of Britan has to be one of the more ignorant things I've heard in a long time. I'm even from a family that's largely descended from British roots. But to say that we should put the Union Jack on the cover for Canada Day simply ignores the work that non British people (like Grandpa!) put into this country.

Anyway. Like I mentioned, I was suprised by how much that one comment got to me. Everything else seems to be ticking along at a steady pace. One week to houseboating! I can hardly wait.
