2008-08-31 - 1:40 p.m. I'm taking a break from cleaning and packing to update this thing. I guess I could have sorted all this out before the day before I leave, but oh well. Yesterday, although I didn't get any packing done, was a pretty productive day. In the morning I helped my friend Kim move. Kim's a dear girl, but has a bad habit of moving every nine months or so, and I often get roped into helping. In this case I didn't mind too much, since she's letting me use her truck to move to Vancouver. The move went pretty well. Her old place is downtown, near the Cathedral. She was in the attic suite of a heritage house, which meant for a LOT of stairs. On the plus side, she moves so often that she has done a good job of paring down her stuff to the essentials. It took us three truck loads, plus one car load from a friend who helped for a bit. Her new place is nice, a house in Fairfield. We were done moving by noon, so I got Kim to drop me off at the barbers. Ears appropriately lowered, I walked over to London Drugs and got my first cell phone. Yes, my first. I'm being dragged kicking a screaming into the late twentieth century it seems. Actually, it was texting that made me want a cell. I mean, as far as phones go, if I'm home, I'll use a landline by preference, and if not home, then I'm probably too busy to talk on the phone. Texting though, oh, texting! I just love it. I got an unlimited text plan, so feel free to keep in touch with me that way. Back to packing now. I'm nearly finished...
